no drive

Had niet zo veel 'fut' deze week, dus is dit het enige 'geschrevene' wat ik kan laten zien.. Sorry hiervoor, zal wel met de hele  C-crisis te maken hebben, zeker. Geraakte gewoon niet zo in de flow, zoals anders..
Zelf ontworpen letters, ingekleurd met aquarelverf.

Wat beter lukt tegenwoordig is het maken van doosjes, boekjes en collages e.d. . Je hoeft niet bang te zijn voor het 'witte blad', alleen maar de instructies volgen met een muziekje op de achtergrond. Chill.
Daarom probeerde ik nog een keer een modelletje uit het boek van Claire Van Vliet. (scroll naar beneden)
Het is een lijmloze, draadloze binding. De rode verbindingsstrook wordt als het ware gewoven/gevlochten tussen de pagina's . hier en hier  maakte ik ook al voorbeelden uit haar boek.

Haven't had a lot of drive this week, so this is the only (written) thing I can show you... Sorry about that. Guess  it all has to do with this whole C-crisis..
I designed the letters myself and coloured (pieces of) them in watercolour.

Boxmaking and bookmaking ,on the other hand, seem to work better for me these days. Soothing and relaxing. No fear of the empty page, just following up instructions with some background music..Chill.
That's why I tried another model from the Claire Van Vliet book.(scroll down, please)
You don't need any glue for this one, nor needle and thread. It's a concertina strip that gets kind of woven/interlocked with the page leaves. (hope that makes sense ?) . I made some other examples from this book in the past , check hier  and   here   .

En omdat een van de opdrachten van het kalli-corona-project het maken van een kadoosje was, maakte ik ook nog deze :

And because one of the assignments of the kalli-corona-project was: make a giftbox, here is the second one:

kribbelde eerst wat letters met witte acrylverf in de tjanting op deze achtergrond - first I scribbled with the tjanting and white acrylic paint on this background from my stash

draaide dan mijn blad om en schreef nog wat letters in blauw - then turned my page and scribbled some more (blue) letters

Zodat ik dit blad had om doosjes mee te maken.
So that I ended up with this page to make gift boxes with :

Ik koos eens voor een driehoekig model, eens wat anders..
I chose this triangular one. They don't always need to be square, right ?

En toen had ik nog een heel stuk van mijn blad over en maakte ik ook nog deze....
After that I hadn't used all of my paper yet, so I made this one too:

                                             TJANTING

Bij het opruimen van mijn 'ateljeeke' (= hobbyhok) , kwam ik -behalve veel papier dat een keer weg mocht- ook nog mijn 'tjanting' tegen. Vele jaren geleden gekocht, maar slechts 2 keer gebruikt...
Het is eigenlijk een toestelletje dat gebruikt wordt bij het zijdeschilderen. Er wordt dan hete was ingedaan om zodoende op stof te 'tekenen' en werkt dan als een soort uitspaarvloeistof.

After clearing out my hobby room, I found back this instrument, the 'tjanting' . i bought this device many years ago, but have only used it once. It is, actually, an apparatus used for silk printing, which is filled with hot wax to 'draw' with and serves as a kind of masking fluid for your fabrics.

Je kan hem echter ook (met een pipet) met verf/inkt vullen en zo gaan 'schrijven' op papier.

Instead of hot beeswax, you can also fill it with diluted acrylic paint or ink,.... and 'write' with it on paper:

zoals hier met watervaste inkt op aquarelpapier  - like here with black waterproof ink on watercolour paper

met aquamarkers kan je dan vlakjes ervan inkleuren , zonder dat ze uitlopen en er bijvoorbeeld een doosje mee maken.

I then filled some of the spaces with my aquamarkers (they don't bleed because the ink is waterproof) to build a box with .

Heb nog net voor de 'lockdown' nog een aantal eerdere ontwerpjes kunnen drukken..

En ik werkte ook nog  één van de opdrachten uit van het kalli-corona-project.
De opdracht was: ontwerp een kaart voor iemand die je dierbaar is en die je -gezien de omstandigheden- niet kan zien.

Below you can see the result of another assignment of the kalli-corona-project, namely: design (and send) a card for someone dear to you, someone you can't see in person, given the circumstances.

Ik maakte gebruik van het lettertype van Rudolf Koch voor de tekst en vulde de letters met stift in 6 kleuren, met een kleurschakering. Doet me een beetje denken aan het 'pointillisme'. De fijne tekst is met inkt en spitse pen geschreven.

For the bigger letters I made use of Rudolf Koch's famous font and felt-tip pens in 6 colours. (I miss you) and the small letters are done with pelican blue ink and a pointed pen.
