Ook de volgende dagen van de stage waren super !

Zo oefenden we o.a. nog het foundational alfabet in met het penseel  :

Also the next couple of days were awesome.
We practised another alfabet (foundational type) - picture 1 and made a composition with some of the letters (picture 2)

Harmonie en contrast met penseel.

Dat was het thema van de zomerstage juli 2018 onder de deskundige begeleiding van Linda Truyers.
Spannend ! Zeker als je weet dat ik totaal onbekend was met het penseel. Ik heb altijd een beetje 'watervrees' gehad wat dit materiaal betreft.
Gelukkig was dat -achteraf bekeken - niet nodig gebleken. Integendeel, het penseel is een fijn instrument om mee te werken en geeft weer totaal andere mogelijkheden dan een pen of iets anders.
Deze 4-daagse was dus een echte ontdekkingsreis als het ware, waarvan ik jullie een klein beetje wil laten meegenieten.


Harmony and contrast with the brush.

That was the theme of the summer course of July 2018.
Very exciting, considering the fact that I had never worked with this instrument before ! I've always been kind of scared of the brush as a matter of fact...
But it turned out to be a wonderful instrument with again new and different possibilities and effects you can never achieve with a pen.
So these 4 days have been a real discovery, which I would like to share with you.

 Op de eerste stagedag leren we 'voeling' te krijgen met dit nieuwe instrument d.m.v. opwarmingsoefeningen zoals deze:

P.S. Al wat je op de foto's ziet,  zijn oefeningen en composities die onafgewerkt zijn; bij sommige moet nog tekst komen of moeten nog bij/herwerkt worden. Ze zijn dus (nog) niet af.

P.S.: All you see on the pictures are exercises and compositions, that are not complete yet.
Some still need text or need to be re-touched or done again. So, they are not finished yet.

En ten slot nog een foto van een werk van onze Linda. Zij maakte deze muur 'lettering' in opdracht van de nonnen van Mariagaarde .Het kan bewonderd worden in het poortgebouw aan de ingang van Mariagaarde dat ingericht is als bezinningsruimte

summer project #1

Het zomerproject 2018 is weer van start gegaan, o.l.v. Ann Arnauts.
De leden krijgen opdrachten van elkaar die we dan tot een goed einde proberen te brengen.
Je mag ook zélf een opdracht verzinnen voor de andere leden.
Je beslist zelf welke opdrachten je kan/wil doen.

Vorig jaar deed ik ook al mee en ik ondervond dat je op die manier je  jezelf  'dwingt' ook eens 'out of the box' denken en dingen te doen die een beetje uit je comfortzone liggen. Vandaar dat ik dit jaar opnieuw wou meedoen.

De eerste opdracht komt van Ann zelf:
"Gebruik een zwarte fineliner en aquarelverf.
Laat je inspireren door de werken van Alyn Carlson (zie Pinterest).
Maak een leporello van minimum drie vlakken en voeg ook een lijn tekst toe".


Summer project 2018 started again, organised by Ann Arnauts.
The members of this FB group get creative assignments from the other members, which we try and bring to a good end.
You can also make up assignments for the others and you can choose which assignments you want to do.

I already participated last year, because I experienced how nice it can be to 'force' yourself to think out of the box now and then and come out of your comfort zone.
Because this can lead to surprising ideas, I wanted to join the group again this year.

The first assignment came from Ann:
"Use a black fineliner and watercolour paint.
Get inspired by Alyn Carlson's works (see Pinterest) and create a harmonica card in 3 parts and add one line of text"

Dan maakte ik ook nog een paar verkleiningen ervan. Die kan ik dan later nog voor kaartjes gebruiken.

I also made 4 reductions of it to make cards from.

Een paar weken geleden, ging ik naar de kijkdagen in de academie van Tienen. Een vriendin, Nel, is éen van de cursisten daar . Ze doet daar keramiek en maakt altijd mooie dingen, waaronder dit jaar (onder andere) deze oloide!
Een wat ?
Wel, het is een meetkundig object dat ontdekt is door de Zwitserse wiskundige/kunstenaar Paul Schatz in 1929.  (zie * voor de wiskundige uitleg )

A couple of weeks ago, it was show time for the pupils at the academy in Tienen. Nel is one of them and always makes nice ceramic objects, among which this oloid !
An oloid is a geometrical object discovered by the Swiss artist/mathematician Paul Schatz in 1929.

Ik was helemaal wég van de mooie vorm en vroeg mij af of zoiets ook in papier zou kunnen.
Bouwplaat gekregen en eerst eens een dummy gemaakt in printpapier.
En na wat zoekwerk  kreeg ik het voor elkaar.

I was completely swept off my feet by this magnificent shape and wondered if this would also be possible in paper ? 
Found a template and made a dummy in cheap printing paper first.
And it worked ! 

Dus misschien ook eens op wat mooier papier proberen :
So,then I tried again with some more decorative paper:

En natuuuuuurlijk mochten ook hier weer de lettertjes niet ontbreken, dus maakte ik ook nog dit:
And of course one with letters too !!:

I then made the terrible mistake of adding a few green and blue accents in the letters:

En toen besloot ik om een paar groene en blauwe accentjes aan te brengen in de letters. Had ik beter niet gedaan...

in 3D, but I regret the accents now- would've been better in black/white - 3dimensioneel nu, maar heb spijt van de kleurtjes-zwart-wit was mooier geweest...

En ook goed nieuws van het blogger-front: ik krijg jullie reacties nu ook weer binnen via mail ! Geweldig toch ?
Altijd fijn van jullie te horen want dat apprecieer ik echt en een fijne zomervakantie voor iedereen ! Ik ben  in juli en augustus nog steeds op post, maar enkel op zondag.

Also good news on the Blogger-front; I can receive your comments again on my mail ! Isn't that great ? It's always nice to hear from you, I really appreciate that and a nice summer holiday for all of you !
