playing with watercolour and...letters of course

Af en toe moet er ook wat tijd zijn om te 'spelen', vind ik. Vandaar dat ik mijn aquarelletjes nog eens bovenhaalde om deze lettertjes in te kleuren.
De letters zijn niet door mij ontworpen. Ze komen uit een stansalfabet van een vriendin.

Now and then we need some time to 'play'. Hence I took out my watercolour paints to colour these letters.
I didn't design these letters myself, though. They're from a die-alphabet of a friend.

De kaartjes die ik 2 weken geleden postte, heb ik nu voorzien van een korte tekst, zodat ik ze kan gebruiken voor verjaardag of als rouwkaartjes.

These are the cards again I posted 2 weeks ago. I've now added some text so that they can be used as birthday or sympathy cards.

Toen ik tijdens de kerstvakantie door de blog van Godelieve (stampingmathilda) 'bladerde', kwam ik  deze post tegen met geschilderde bloemen in aquarel. Dat wou ik ook wel eens proberen...

When I was browsing through Godelieve's blog (stampingmathilda) in the Christmas holidays, I came across this post with watercolour flowers. I also wanted to try them ..

Nu nog een korte tekst of zo erbij...

En ook in de grafiekles heb ik niet stil gezeten. Ik koos deze 2 ontwerpen om een ets te maken. Wordt vervolgd.
These are the 2 designs I chose to make an etching with. To be continued...

warmest wishes

Deze tekst (de warmste wensen) schreef  ik met een spitse pen en watervaste inkt (in één beweging, dus zonder te stoppen) en dan ingekleurd met  4 kleurtjes aquarelverf. Ik gebruikte het ontwerp ook om zeefdrukjes mee te maken.

I first wrote the text (the warmest wishes) with a pointed pen and  indelible ink (in one go-so without lifting the pen from the paper) and then coloured  some of the spaces with watercolour paint. I also used this design to make some silk screen prints later.

LETTERLINO

2 vriendinnen verjaren ook overmorgen, op dezelfde dag dus: oudjaar.
Ik maakte thuis nog deze lino met 5 letters 'smile', maar omdat het geen les is op de academie (vakantie) kon ik het niet afdrukken (dacht ik) Zou het ook lukken met de 'cuttle bug' i.p.v. een linopers ? Ja dus ! Ik beinkte met gewone stempelinkt (rood en grijs) en kreeg dit resultaat :

The day after tomorrow 2 of my friends are having their birthday, so I made this lino with the word 'smile', but because it's a holiday (academy is closed) I couldn't print ...or could I?
I tried the cuttle bug instead of a press and it (kind of) worked. I ran it through the cuttle bug using plain red and grey stamp ink and these were the results....

I thought I might as well DO something with it, so I took some Khadi paper out and this is what the first card looks like(without text)

congratulations

 Eerst maakte ik wat aquarelletjes waarvan ik de mooiste stukjes achter dit venstertje plakte.
Nadien schreef ik in potlood het stuk 'van harte' in potlood en tenslotte het woordje 'proficiat' in uitgerokken schrift.

I made some watercolour sketches of which I used the best ones to glue behind this 'window'.
Then I wrote in pencil the 2 words in capitals over the paper and the watercolour paper and finally I wrote the word 'proficiat' (congratulations) in a stretched kind of italic underneath the window.

for this card I used a tombow fude brush pen-soft tip

Tijdens de vakantiemaanden doe ik het wat rustiger aan. Daarom zal je in juli en augustus geen blogberichtjes meer zien op woensdag.
Op zondag echter blijf ik -zoals steeds- trouw op post ! Fijne vakantie iedereen !

one stamp -different cards: part 1

Met een en dezelfde stempel kan je best veel variaties bedenken.
Ik gebruikte hier een bloemenstempel van 'stampotique' en bestempelde deze met versamark inkt.
Wat wit wow-embossingpoeder erover en laten smelten. Dan knipte ik het bestempelde papier wat kleiner, omdat ik niet de hele stempel dacht nodig te hebben.
De bloemblaadjes kleurde ik (snel en slordig), maar bewust) in met aquarelverf .

With one and the same stamp it is possible to come up with quite a few variations.
Here I used a flowerstamp by 'Stampotique' and embossed it in white. I cut out the stamped paper a little smaller 'cause I didn't need the whole stamped image here.

Ook probeerde ik voor elke kaart een ander (schrijf)materiaal te gebruiken. En zo kwam ik tot de volgende resultaten :

 And for every single card I also used a different writing material. That's how these cards were realised:

tekst in speelse kapitalen in potlood- capitals in pencil+relief paint for the middle of the flower

white gel pen for the text 'happy birthday'

text written with a pointed pen in bleedproof white ink

Met deze techniek laat ik binnen een paar weken nog een paar voorbeelden zien.
In a couple of weeks I'll show you a few more examples, using the same technique.
