 Nog een andere oefening gemaakt met potloodkapitaaltjes. Je ziet het minder goed op de foto , maar de eerste regel en de laatste zijn in het blauw, het middenstuk in het groen.

I made another exercise on capitals in pencil. You can't see it very well in the picture, but the first and last lines are in blue, the rest in green.:

 

En ook bezig geweest met het maken van een nieuw soort zakje.

I used rooibosch tea to colour the paper 

En terwijl deze drogen, herhaal ik de potlood kapitaaltjes die er nog op moeten...

almost finished but not so happy with it... bijna klaar maar vind het niet zo goed

deze vind ik al iets beter, zit meer 'leven' in...  - I like this one better

 

 

En met een klein groepje mensen, amuseerden we ons gisteren met de Neuland-letter :

 In afwachting van de start van de jaarlijkse kalligrafielessen bij Linda, heb ik me ingeschreven voor online lessen bij Joachim Propfe.

Zoals altijd ziet het er weer makkelijker uit dan het is. Nog veel oefenen, dus !

 Hopelijk val ik niet te veel in herhaling want heb nog eens een aantal projectjes afgewerkt. Allemaal papier op canvas.

  I hope I’m not repeating myself too much, as I’ve finished a few more smaller projects. They’re all paper on canvas.

Enkele snelle rouwkaartjes gemaakt met water en inkt.

Made a few quick and simple grief cards with just water and ink.

 En ook heb ik enkele projecten van bij Amity afgewerkt: een tekenmap en pennenhouder, beiden op papier/karton.

 I’ve also finished a few projects inspired by Amity: a drawing folder and a pen holder, both made from paper or cardboard.

workshop Marco Chioini embrace the abstract

 Bij  'the gentle penman" volgde ik in juni een online workshop  'omarm het abstracte' onder leiding van Marco Chioini 

 We probeerden  los te komen van hoe de letters (humanistisch cursief) normaal gezien worden opgebouwd. M.a.w. wat gebeurt er als je een letterstreek naar links buigt i.p.v. naar rechts, van onder naar boven tekent i.p.v. andersom ? Je letter ziet er plots héél anders uit en wordt zelfs onleesbaar.

Hieronder zie je een paar pogingen om dit te doen; het 'deconstructie-proces'. Gelukkig moesten de oefeningen  niet mooi zijn. Dat was namelijk helemaal niet de bedoeling. De bedoeling was wél om te kijken welke mogelijkheden er zijn. 

 

 In June, at ‘the gentle penman’, I took part in an online workshop entitled ‘Embrace the Abstract’, led by Marco Chioini.

  We tried to break away from the way letters (humanist cursive) are normally constructed. In other words, what happens if you bend a stroke to the left instead of to the right, or draw it from bottom to top instead of the other way round? Your letter suddenly looks very different and can even become illegible.

Below you can see a few attempts at doing this; the ‘deconstruction process’. Fortunately, the exercises didn’t have to look nice. That wasn’t the point at all. The aim was to explore the possibilities.

En zo ging het steeds maar verder en probeerden we tot mooie composities te komen . Die krijgen jullie nog wel een keer te zien. (eerst nog wat oefenen)
