positive meets negative 5

 

Ik was wat aan het spelen met gouache en grote letters (ong 5-6 cm hoog). Het resultaat is niet zo slecht, maar het was nogal 'kaal', dus tekende ik -met zeer verdunde gouache in dezelfde kleur) de negatieve vormen erbij :

I have been experimenting with bigger letters (5 to 6 cm tall) and gouache on this mxed media paper, but found it rather 'dull', so I also drew the negative spaces , to fill up the page. I used a very diluted form of the same gouache.

Beter, vind ik, maar misschien zet ik eronder toch nog een lijntje tekst ?

I like this version better, but maybe I should add another line of text too ?

what a difference black paper makes

 Aan't experimenteren geweest met kleurpotlood, aquarel en gouache op zowel wit als zwart papier.

vergelijk maar eens het kleurpotlood rood met paars in de linker bovenhoek op wit papier... let's compare the coloured pencil purple with red in the top left corner on this white paper...

met deze op zwart papier. - with the same coloured pencils on black paper...

Of deze geel-oranje-rode kleurpotloden op wit papier:

Or these yellow-to red pencils on white paper

En op zwart papier - and on black paper:

wat een groot verschil ! What a difference !

En deze is gouache op zwart papier:

And this one is gouache on black paper:

de groene accenten zijn in metallic verf, vandaar de glans- the green accents are made with metallic paints, hence the sheen...

And here the same paint on white- en dezelfde gouache op wit papier:

1 van mijn favoriete quotes is deze: "Youth is a gift of nature but age is a work of art "

Ik maakte drie versies; zelfde model van kaart, zelfde tekst, maar andere uitvoering qua schrijfmateriaal en handschrift. Vorige maand zagen jullie de eerste hier, vandaag de 2de en de eerste zondag van juni de derde. Laat zeker weten welke jullie de mooiste vinden !

"Youth is a gift of nature but age is a work of art" is a quote I liked very much,so I decided to make three versions of it; the same card model, the same text, but with different writing tools and fonts.

Last month I showed you the first, today the second and on the first Sunday of June the last one.
